Quick answer. Yes & no.
I’ve been scammed. A lot of us have been.
Fraudsters often pose as psychics, preying on vulnerable people in order to make a quick buck. Regrettably, this happens in all fields & professions.
Are there genuine tarot readers?
Yes. Some are very good. The best tarot readers are seasoned & experienced.
However, some card readers may have the best of intentions, but they project their own unhealed wounds onto the reading. A good card reader has his/her own emotional baggage in check.
The Gypsy
I met a scammer several years ago when I was driving from London to Scotland & stopped in Newcastle for a few days. I was walking along the riverside & saw a caravan. It looked like one of those old ones you see in Peaky Blinders & had a sign out front advertising a “Fortune Teller.”
I waited for a group of people to exit the caravan & then peeked inside. A gypsy woman beckoned me to enter. “How much for a reading?” I asked. “Five pounds,” she replied. Why not, I thought, & stepped inside.
Immediately, this woman started throwing non-stop information at me, so I barely had time to process it. This included that I was American. But she had misjudged my accent. I’m Canadian. Only half of what she told me that day was true. She was throwing darts in the dark.
Being my polite Canadian self, I waited until she finished her performance & then gave her a fiver. She clearly didn’t have a gift, unless being a scam artist is a gift, & she wasn’t even very good at that. However, I paid so I could leave without hassle.
Scammers Target Vulnerable People
Like others, I’ve been scammed during the most difficult times in my life, when there’s a lot of upheaval & confusion. This is when the snake oil salesmen strike. When you’re sad & stressed & overwhelmed, you can’t focus on whether the person you’re paying for a tarot reading is authentic or not. You just want answers & comfort.
We’ve all been in there & made poor decisions. All you can do is forgive yourself & learn another life’s lesson: to trust your intuition & your gut feeling over anyone else, whether that be a doctor, a friend, family member or tarot card reader.
Tarot Readers Can Be Amazing!
I’ve also had amazing experiences with talented tarot readers that have helped to guide me through some of the most tumultuous periods of my life. I honestly don’t know what I would’ve done without genuine tarot card readers at times.
How can you tell if a tarot card reader is a fraud, so you don’t get scammed? Ultimately, it’s you & your intuition that will determine whether a card reader is not only genuine, but also good at their craft. And this is a craft.
It takes practise & experience to communicate intuitive messages. Many of my clients tell me that my readings confirm what they intuitively already knew to be true.
How To Select The Right Tarot Reader
When you’re selecting a tarot card reader, examine how you physically feel. The scammers I encountered made me feel uncomfortable & tense. The genuinely skilled readers made me feel warm & at ease. Including when you’re online, close your eyes & scan your body & imagine yourself selecting a certain tarot reader. Repeat the process & imagine not selecting this reader. The body never lies and will reveal your answer. If you feel tension, walk away. If you feel relaxed & at ease, then this is the right tarot card reader for you at this time. Ensure the people you allow to get close to you are respectful of you & your decisions & your boundaries. This absolutely includes tarot card readers.
5 Tips to Spot a Scammer
1. They make you feel uncomfortable
2. They’re rushing you to pay them
3. They make you second-guess yourself
4. They go on about how “great” they are and imply you can only get your answers through them
5. You’re ignoring your own intuition/gut instinct, because you truly want to believe they have all of the “answers.”
Please be assured there are amazing tarot card readers that genuinely assist others. They live a life of service to troubled souls & should be able to provide the guidance you’re seeking. A reading can open up doors & some surprising possibilities in your life!
Tarot can also be fun. I hope you enjoy your next reading!!
